Preview of the Government Telecommunication Agency Case Study

Protecting Government Wireless Systems with Detailed Signal Emulation and Interference Analysis

The Government Telecommunication Agency, responsible for national spectrum management and interference investigations, was tasked in 2018 with researching how mission‑critical government wireless receivers behave amid commercial, accidental, and intentional interference. Facing a tight timeline and the need for laboratory‑grade signal creation, emulation and analysis, the agency engaged Keysight and selected Keysight Signal Studio with real‑time fading waveforms, the Keysight N5182B MXG vector signal generator, and the Keysight N9030B PXA X‑Series signal analyzer.

Keysight delivered an end‑to‑end fading‑emulation and measurement solution: Signal Studio generated realistic fading profiles and standards‑based signals, the N5182B MXG produced those signals across 9 kHz–6 GHz, and the N9030B PXA captured and characterized interference effects. Using Keysight equipment the agency quickly completed advanced receiver testing, characterized satellite‑to‑radar interference, and deployed multiple systems across government agencies—improving its ability to predict and mitigate wireless interference and accelerating future investigations.
