A Keysight Case Study
Major Automotive Original Equipment Manufacturing Company needed a faster, more precise way to validate 24 GHz and 77 GHz radar modules on a high-volume U.S. assembly line while avoiding costly rework and eliminating assembly-line downtime caused by spurious electromagnetic interference (EMI). Keysight was engaged to address the challenge, with the customer seeking a portable test method that could verify radar output and detect fleeting EMI without adding production delays.
Keysight deployed a portable test solution centered on the Keysight N9918A FieldFox handheld microwave analyzer with real-time spectrum analysis (RTSA) and an OML WR12 harmonic mixer to downconvert 77 GHz signals. Using Keysight’s tools, engineers rapidly tested all five radar sensors before and after fascia installation, isolated and identified EMI sources (eliminating days of regular downtime), and significantly reduced overall test time, improving on-line fault detection and post-assembly radar performance tuning.
