New PXIe Multiport Network Analyzer Speeds Multiport Active Antenna Development

Global Advanced Defense Technologies Service Provider needed to develop a complex multiport active antenna made of multiple transmit/receive (TR) modules but its traditional Vector Network Analyzer–based test setup could not economically or quickly scale to the required port count. The customer faced slow, costly switch-matrix approaches, potential six‑month software development delays, and the risk of missing government program deadlines, and thus evaluated alternatives including Keysight’s PXIe Vector Network Analyzer (M9800A).

Keysight delivered its true multiport PXI Vector Network Analyzer (M9800A) and support, enabling simultaneous multi‑channel characterization without switch matrices, reuse of existing PNA/PNA‑X software, and integrated pulsed-measurement capabilities. As a result, Keysight’s solution cut development time by at least six months, eliminated costly switch matrices, improved measurement speed and accuracy, lowered cost per port (6 ports in 2 PXI slots), and helped the customer win the government contract and meet program deadlines.
