NeoPhotonics - Customer Case Study

NeoPhotonics Corporation designs and manufactures optoelectronic solutions for high‑speed networks, developing 400G, 600G and beyond components including a 64 GBaud coherent optical subassembly (COSA). With DSP silicon for 400ZR transceivers delayed by about a year—leaving NeoPhotonics unable to assess new optical components and modules—the company turned to Keysight and its test equipment (N4391A Optical Modulation Analyzer, M8196A Arbitrary Waveform Generator, and N4373D Lightwave Component Analyzer) to validate designs.

Using Keysight’s M8196A AWG, N4391A OMA and N4373D LCA, NeoPhotonics generated and analyzed 16‑QAM and higher‑order 64 GBaud signals, characterized electro‑optic transfer functions across operating conditions, and validated its COSA and matched components for OSFP modules. Keysight’s test solution accelerated development by roughly one year, enabled NeoPhotonics to showcase industry‑first 600 GBaud components and a 64 GBaud COSA for 1.2T/400ZR applications, and confirmed performance nearly a year before DSP silicon became available.
