Leading Electric Vehicle Company Builds Solid Automated Testing Foundation to Improve Quality and Accelerate R&D

NIO Inc, an innovative Chinese electric-vehicle manufacturer, needed to improve testing quality and boost R&D efficiency after QA teams spent roughly 40% of their time on repetitive, manual regression testing and long UI-monitoring sessions. To address this, NIO adopted Keysight’s Eggplant test automation solution (Eggplant Functional), working with partner HiRain to integrate automated testing into its development process.

HiRain and Keysight implemented Eggplant Functional to automate IVI UI, BUS data, audio, and Bluetooth testing on Android/NVIDIA platforms, provided training and 24/7 support, and replaced a less reliable robotic-arm/camera approach. The Keysight Eggplant deployment made tests more precise and easier to maintain, let testers save and reuse cases to significantly reduce time spent on regression (previously ~40%), catch issues earlier, and improve overall testing quality and development velocity.
