Keysight vTaps and Vision ONE Addresses Changing Government Infrastructure

Large U.S. Government Agency faced critical visibility gaps after moving to a highly virtualized data center, with east–west inter-VM traffic invisible to traditional tools and VMware’s native port mirroring causing security, filtering, tunneling, and performance issues. Keysight introduced its integrated virtualized visibility platform—using Keysight vTaps and Vision ONE network packet brokers—to address the agency’s need for secure, end-to-end access to packet data across virtual and physical segments.

Keysight implemented 100 vTaps and two Vision ONE NPBs to capture, filter, tunnel (GRE/VLAN/ERSPAN), and process traffic (NetFlow, SSL decryption, deduplication, load balancing) without disrupting workloads; this delivered 100% visibility of east–west traffic, an integrated visibility system for physical and virtual segments, and the ability to forward virtual traffic to analytics for trend analysis. After validating the approach, the Large U.S. Government Agency is preparing to expand Keysight’s solution across seven data centers—deploying several thousand vTaps and additional NPBs—to eliminate blind spots and improve monitoring efficiency.
