Leading Automotive PCBA Manufacturer faced significant operator-driven mishandling and low ICT efficiency that hurt product quality and constrained throughput; the company sought to hit a 90% first-pass yield while reducing operator costs. To solve this, they turned to Keysight and its E9986E i3070 4-Module Inline In-Circuit System for automated inline in-circuit testing.

Keysight deployed the E9986E with automated inline handlers, dual-board staging and the Throughput Multiplier to test four PCBAs in parallel, eliminating human handling at the ICT station. The result was a near 4x throughput increase (four-board cycle reduced to 44.2 s from 150 s), first-pass yield improvement from 81% to 95%, more than 500,000 boards tested with zero handling mishaps, fewer operators required (two for the whole line), and significant floor-space savings.
