High Traffic and Need for Security and Visibility Spur 100GE Redesign

The University of Texas faced massive volumes of application traffic across its single‑campus environment, creating visibility, security, and cost‑efficiency challenges for the CISO and Incident Response team—while also needing to support Cyber Range exercises and ethics hacking instruction. To address a 100GE redesign and improve monitoring beyond Layer 4, the University engaged Keysight and its monitoring portfolio.

Keysight deployed its Vision 7300 with AppStack, Keysight Flex Taps, Packet Capture Module/PacketStack and 100GE aggregation (integrating partner IDS tools) to deliver end‑to‑end visibility, application‑level classification and easy GUI control. By using AppStack to strip high‑volume streaming traffic before it reaches the IDS, Keysight enabled the University of Texas to anticipate 20–30% savings on IDS capacity, faster MTTR via built‑in packet capture and Wireshark decode, and a scalable, cost‑efficient monitoring architecture.
