Enhancing Test Productivity of Airfield Signs

Airfield Guidance Sign Manufacturers (AGM), Inc., of Manlius, New York, produces FAA‑approved internally‑illuminated airfield guidance signs. AGM faced a productivity challenge: testing sign voltage and current required using a Constant Current Regulator (CCR) located as far as 30 meters (98 feet) from the shop floor, forcing two technicians to coordinate or a single technician to make repeated trips. Keysight Technologies, Inc.'s wireless test solution — including Keysight digital multimeters, the U1177A Bluetooth adapter, and Keysight Mobile Meter and Mobile Logger applications — was chosen to address this problem.

Keysight delivered a wireless remote connectivity solution that lets technicians monitor up to three meters simultaneously on an Android device, operate the CCR remotely, log anomalies, and email captured data for faster troubleshooting. The Keysight solution eliminated the need for a second technician in many test cycles, removed time‑consuming walking between the CCR and workstations, streamlined testing and development, and measurably increased shop‑floor productivity while supporting remote monitoring up to the noted 30‑meter distance.
