A Keysight Case Study
Leading Electronics Manufacturing Company, a global electronics OEM developing AI and deep‑learning-enabled LIDAR and radar sensors for autonomous driving, faced a steep learning curve with mmWave automotive radar. The R&D team had no prior experience with 79 GHz+ radar, lacked reliable measurement methods for 76–81 GHz with wide bandwidth, and risked long design cycles due to spurious signals and inadequate test equipment. They engaged Keysight and adopted its E8740A automotive radar signal analysis and generation solution to address these gaps.
Keysight implemented the E8740A system (including the E8740‑A‑070 radar signal generator, N9041B UXA 4 GHz‑bandwidth analyzer, and W1908 SystemVue automotive radar library) to emulate and analyze wideband 76–81 GHz radar signals, find root causes of spurious emissions, and run realistic FMCW and micro‑Doppler scenarios. Using Keysight’s solution, the team analyzed 4 GHz of bandwidth across 76–81 GHz, identified and resolved spurious‑signal issues, cut test development time by 50%, and increased the number of scenarios tested by 50%, improving sensor validation and shortening design cycles.
