DME Uses N6700 Power Supply to Field Test Military Radios

DME Corporation, a defense electronics firm, needed a compact, field‑portable test solution to validate increasingly complex military radios operating in harsh conditions. To build its Advanced Tactical Agile Communications Test Set (ATACTS), DME integrated Keysight’s N6700 low‑profile modular power system to provide the multiple programmable power rails and USB control required for in‑field testing.

Using Keysight’s N6700, ATACTS gains 3–5 programmable outputs (and the ability to parallel up to three units for >100–150 W), relay disconnect and built‑in current measurement, and USB programmability—avoiding the need for DME to design a custom supply. The Keysight‑equipped ATACTS performs automated software‑defined tests (IF digitization, modulation/demodulation, RF output, BER, frequency stability and current draw), letting technicians rapidly qualify radios in the field and determine whether units are serviceable or must be returned to depot.
