Benchmark Electronics’ Winona Division, a turnkey contract manufacturer, faced test-station bottlenecks on its PCB assembly lines where in-circuit test throughput limited overall production. Test Technology Manager John Meier evaluated a vendor upgrade from Keysight — the Keysight Quick70 throughput upgrade for existing Keysight 3070 systems — as a way to raise test capacity without replacing programming or fixturing investments.

Keysight implemented the Quick70 upgrade (faster ControlXT card, optimized software and Keysight Quick Report) on Benchmark’s 3070 systems, yielding large gains: recompiled total test time fell from 106.6s to 56.5s (a 1.9× throughput improvement) and analog in‑circuit time dropped from 46.3s to 23.2s (2×). Even Compatibility Mode reduced test time ~25% with no recompilation, overall compatibility was 99.98% after 937 boards across 28 board types, and Benchmark confirmed immediate capacity increases from the Keysight upgrade.
