Capture Fast and Agile Frequency Hopping Pulses

The European Defense Agency needed to capture and interpret fast, agile frequency‑hopping pulses and manage large volumes of measurement data to evaluate pulse characteristics and emitter behavior. Keysight answered this need by deploying Infiniium MXR and UXR real‑time oscilloscopes together with PathWave Vector Signal Analysis (VSA) software (option 89601BHQC) to provide high‑fidelity acquisition and specialized pulse analysis tools.

Keysight’s solution combined high‑sample‑rate hardware (MXR up to 16 GSa/s with 6 GHz bandwidth; UXR up to 256 GSa/s with 110 GHz bandwidth and 10‑bit ADC) with DDC and variable‑length segmented capture (VLSC) plus PathWave VSA’s automated pulse detection and classification. The result was accurate characterization of advanced frequency‑hopping emitters, significant data‑reduction and faster processing, and accelerated electronic warfare threat analysis—enabling analysts to extract pulse metrics (PRI, width, hopping frequency, modulation) quickly and take on new EW threats.
