Case Study: Louisiana National Guard achieves enhanced cyber readiness with Keysight BreakingPoint

A Keysight Case Study

BreakingPoint Keeps the Louisiana National Guard a Step Ahead of Cyberattacks

The Louisiana National Guard needed a state-of-the-art cyber range to train defenders, test IoT and industrial systems, and secure the DoD supply chain and local small businesses against malware, DDoS and other advanced attacks. To meet these challenges the Guard, working with Stephenson Technology Corporation, adopted Keysight solutions—principally BreakingPoint Security Testing (with PerfectStorm hardware)—to generate realistic mixes of application and attack traffic for training and research.

Using Keysight BreakingPoint, the team simulated more than 400 application protocols and some 38,000 exploits to validate defenses, a process Keysight reports can increase attack readiness by nearly 70%. The solution produced measurable results: improved incident response times, an IoT lab discovery that a baby monitor was exfiltrating unencrypted data to foreign servers, expansion of testing statewide via BreakingPoint Virtual Edition (supporting up to 20,000 concurrent connections), and scaled research and training with more than 50 experts working at the LSU facility.
