Best-In-Class Application Threat Intelligence Protects Email And Office 365tm On Cloud

The National Defense Agency, responsible for coordinating cyber‑defense across the country’s military organizations, needed heightened visibility into application traffic, metadata forwarding to long‑term sensors, and protection for emails (including Office 365 in the cloud) and encrypted or non‑standard‑port traffic used to evade controls. To meet these needs they engaged Keysight and evaluated Keysight’s AppStack solution (NTO 6212) together with Network Packet Brokers featuring IxFlow and the ATI processor.

Keysight deployed an AppStack-based deployment—initially three Network Packet Brokers with AppStack (later two more, for a total of five)—to provide inline “Gateway Service” filtering that forwarded email and metadata to DLP, IPS/IDS and threat detection tools, and to expose encrypted and non‑standard‑port application use. The Keysight solution delivered actionable application intelligence (27 NetFlow filters), secured email and Office 365 traffic in the cloud, required no training to operate, passed Service Provider penetration testing, and produced secure, efficient, reliable and resilient military communications.
