Automotive ECU Designer Reduces Power Consumption by 10%

Large Automotive ECU Chipmaker was facing rising power consumption and heat generation across its ECUs—especially for AD/ADAS applications and standby modes—making quantitative debugging and thermal design increasingly difficult. To get precise, event‑level current measurements and to ensure product reliability, the customer worked with Keysight and deployed the CX3300A Series device current waveform analyzer (with the CX1105A ultra‑low noise differential sensor for temperature testing).

Keysight’s CX3300A solution delivered high bandwidth, deep memory and a wide dynamic current range to capture fast transients and peak currents that were previously hidden in noise, plus low‑noise sensing for chamber tests. By using Keysight’s instruments to profile transitions and analyze power rail voltage and current together, the chipmaker sped up validation, found and fixed the anomaly causing excessive peaks, and achieved a 10% reduction in power consumption with more effective thermal design and improved product reliability.
