A KeyShot Case Study
Iowa State University’s College of Design Industrial Design Department is a top-tier, multidisciplinary program that prepares students to create lasting, impactful products. The challenge was to integrate digital and hand-rendering workflows across courses so students could quickly produce professional-quality visualizations and client-ready presentations as part of studio projects and real-world sponsored work.
ISU introduced KeyShot in the core CADD class—installed alongside SolidWorks—so students learn lighting, composition, context imagery and animation from the start. The result was a marked jump in presentation quality and speed (noted by industry partners like Calphalon), faster production of polished renders and exploded animations, simplified teaching of rendering and lighting, and stronger outcomes for senior projects and client reviews.
