Case Study: Fossil achieves faster product development and photorealistic material studies with KeyShot

A KeyShot Case Study

Fossil - Customer Case Study

Fossil, a global lifestyle and accessories brand known for vintage‑inspired watches and fashion goods, faced the challenge of producing highly detailed product imagery and communicating color, material and finish decisions across multidisciplinary teams. Using SolidWorks (and Rhino for some jewelry/freeform work), the design group needed a way to present photoreal concepts to non‑design stakeholders, reduce physical samples and shorten revision cycles while preserving handcrafted detail in dials, straps and materials.

They adopted KeyShot as part of a 3D initiative, using it as a virtual photo studio to rapidly generate and iterate colorways, textures and finishes. The result was faster material vetting, fewer samples and revisions, streamlined texture mapping for rubber, leather and hardware, and the ability to create multiple studies in minutes — outcomes demonstrated on projects like the Limited Edition Diving watch and ongoing improvements to Fossil’s development workflow.
