Next Step Bookkeeping - Customer Case Study

Next Step Bookkeeping, led by owner Cathy Sperring, is an Australian firm providing tailored bookkeeping for small businesses. Faced with fragmented, manual payroll processes for clients (including one with 55 staff) and a time‑consuming Reckon setup that could take about eight hours per pay run, Next Step turned to KeyPay alongside QuickBooks Online to streamline payroll and timesheeting.

KeyPay’s employee portal, timesheet integration and online leave workflows (with manager approvals, groups and a shared leave calendar) were implemented and linked to QBO, eliminating manual data entry and reconciliation. As a result, payroll for the 55‑staff client dropped from roughly eight hours to about one hour per pay run, deliverable transparency improved (accurate leave accruals, super visibility) and both owners and employees gained greater trust in the numbers — all thanks to KeyPay.
