Securing Bitcoin Wallet Relai with Biometric Multi-Factor Authentication

Relai, a Swiss‑licensed financial services provider with over $1 billion in trading volume and more than 500,000 app downloads, needed stronger identity assurance across tens of thousands of daily logins, transactions, and account actions. Prior to Keyless, Relai relied on passwords, PINs and local biometrics (e.g., FaceID), which exposed risks such as shared FaceID accounts, PIN fallbacks, and email‑based OTPs that could be phished to access 12‑word seed phrases. Relai required a seamless, privacy‑preserving way to continuously and reliably verify that the person performing sensitive actions was the true account owner.

Relai integrated Keyless biometric multi‑factor authentication, which performs device and face verification in under a second (a ~300 ms face scan) without storing biometric data on the device or in the cloud. Keyless now protects logins, step‑up actions (like account deletion or profile changes), and seed‑phrase access, delivering faster, frictionless authentication while reducing reliance on vulnerable recovery methods. By using Keyless, Relai improved security and privacy for users while maintaining a seamless UX.
