How theCHIVE Uses Unique Hashtags to Engage a Massive Follower Base

theCHIVE, a men’s lifestyle digital platform with over 20 million monthly users, needed a way to engage and accurately monitor a massive, distributed audience across sponsored campaigns and charity drives. To track community activity and measure campaign performance, theCHIVE partnered with Keyhole for hashtag tracking and analytics.

Keyhole implemented unique hashtag tracking for campaign-specific tags (for example #ThePunisher), charity drives that donated $1 per tagged post, and 50 state-specific hashtags to run a national beer pong tournament with real-time leaderboards. Using Keyhole’s analytics, theCHIVE was able to mobilize its audience more effectively, support causes that have helped raise over $10 million in the past decade, and manage complex activations across all 50 states — outcomes theCHIVE says would have been impossible to track without Keyhole.
