Hertz Iceland Enhances Their After-Hours Rental Procedure with Keycafe

Hertz Iceland, part of one of the world's largest vehicle rental companies, sought to improve its after-hours customer experience and increase operational flexibility. Their challenge was magnified by restricted opening hours during the COVID-19 pandemic and an inability to monitor keys online with their previous provider, Creone. This severely limited when customers could pick up or return their rental car keys.

The vendor, Keycafe, implemented its smart key management system, utilizing a SmartBox and key codes for each vehicle. This provided Hertz Iceland with a live status for every key, allowing them to automatically monitor all after-hours pickups and dropoffs through the Keycafe app. The results included a streamlined, contactless customer journey, increased security, and a successful transition from their old system. Hertz Iceland was so pleased with the outcome that they are planning further integration using Keycafe's API.
