A Kerve Case Study
For Mother's Day, cosmetics giant Shiseido faced a challenge with its upscale Nars and Laura Mercier brands. They wanted to offer in-store product personalization for a luxury feel, but standard printed labels were not suitable. They needed a way to print directly onto the product packaging and engaged digital production studio Kerve to find a solution.
Kerve developed a custom direct-to-product foil printing system. They sourced a specialized laser-heat printer and engineered custom baseplates and jigs to hold each product securely. Kerve also built straightforward software running on a Microsoft Surface for customers to choose their text. The solution was installed in John Lewis and House of Fraser stores, allowing Shiseido to offer a premium, personalized gifting experience in the crucial Mother's Day retail period.
