DeafKidz International boosts social engagement 1,257% with Kerve

DeafKidz International, a charity focused on deaf children in developing countries, faced the challenge of raising awareness about the communication barriers these children experience. The agency Bold Space, working with the charity, partnered with the digital production studio Kerve to create a unique digital campaign for Deaf Awareness Week.

Kerve built an innovative microsite called the 'You’re On Mute Detector'. This solution used a Chrome speech recognition extension to detect the common video call phrase "you're on mute," functioning like a modern swear jar. It recorded each instance and prompted users to donate the tally to the charity. The campaign was highly successful, driving a 1,257% month-on-month increase in social engagements, earning 416 media coverage pieces, and generating 21,000 engagements on influencer posts for DeafKidz International.
