A Kerve Case Study
The customer, Barclaycard, faced the challenge of demonstrating new uses for its established contactless payment technology. They sought to solve a specific consumer pain point: long bar queues during the Christmas season, which caused venues to lose nearly 20% of potential customers. The vendor, Kerve, was tasked with creating an innovative solution to increase transaction speed and convenience.
Kerve designed and built the world's first automated, contactless beer pump, known as Pay@Pump. The solution featured a futuristic, 3D-printed chrome font with an integrated touchscreen and contactless reader. This technology allowed customers to pour their own pints seamlessly, taking just 60 seconds from payment to pour. The campaign was a major success for vendor Kerve, generating 190 press coverage pieces and reaching a combined audience of 1.4 billion. It also won the PR Week Award 2017 for Financial Services.
