Case Study: Kingfisher achieves a fast, cost-saving datacentre migration with Kerv

A Kerv Case Study

Preview of the Kingfisher Case Study

Adopting a robust centralisation strategy for operating company datacentres

Kerv helped Kingfisher, Europe’s leading home improvement group, tackle a complex datacentre centralisation project after earlier migration attempts had failed. The retailer needed to move the Lille datacentre in France to the UK within budget while protecting critical systems across multiple operating companies and legacy platforms including Windows, Linux, HP-UX, AIX and Tru64.

Kerv Connect carried out a detailed audit and application dependency mapping, then designed a migration plan using VLAN stretch, virtualisation, Zerto replication and targeted physical server moves. Over nine months, Kerv migrated 174 virtual servers and a range of physical and legacy systems to existing UK infrastructure, reduced the Lille footprint from 35 racks to 6, and delivered estimated electricity savings of 122 kW/h and 60,000 euros per year.
