Viasat Taps Kentik for Real-Time Visibility of Critical Broadband Networks

ViaSat, a global high-speed satellite broadband provider, needed better real-time visibility into network traffic and security because its legacy monitoring tools produced too many false positives and false negatives. With costly satellite bandwidth and continuous traffic anomalies to manage, ViaSat turned to Kentik Detect to improve performance, reduce risk, and protect customer experience.

Kentik implemented its SaaS-based network analytics platform to provide real-time and historical visibility, baselining, APIs, and an easy-to-use interface for multiple teams. The results included more accurate security investigations, automated threat detection and response, and broader cross-team adoption; ViaSat identified more than 1,700 attacks and incidents, prevented over 60 TB of malicious or unnecessary traffic, and reduced mean time to investigate and resolve incidents.
