Wandsworth Council - Customer Case Study

Wandsworth Council’s Traded Services for Schools worked with Discover IT to convert a printed brochure of services into an online e-commerce site. The main challenge was reproducing a highly complex, bespoke pricing model—prices varied by number of pupils or staff, ranges, school type, area, prior associated purchases and even individual-school negotiated rates—while also supporting distinct user roles for ordering and approval and delivering custom reporting.

Discover IT built the site on Kentico and developed a custom pricing engine that overrides fixed pricing, plus a spreadsheet-style order form and reusable web parts. The project also implemented two-tier school roles, service and admin permissions, and tailored reports. The result was automated, accurate pricing, faster ordering, reduced manual work and printing costs, quick uptake of purchases after launch, and a flexible solution adaptable to other organisations’ pricing needs.
