UMC Utrecht - Customer Case Study

The University Medical Center Utrecht, one of the Netherlands’ largest public healthcare institutions (adult hospital, children’s hospital and Faculty of Medicine) with over 11,000 staff, needed a new website to reflect its brand and corporate identity, improve stability and security, reduce the proliferation of subsites, and support accessibility (WCAG 2.0 AA), responsive design and content entry by some 50 editors while ensuring high availability.

TrueLime and Internetbureau theFactor.e built the site on Kentico, creating a responsive design with a prominent search, collapsing mobile menu, reusable custom widgets for consistent content, and a web‑farm hosted in UMC’s datacenter for high availability. Delivered in a 4‑month build (6 months for content entry), the project consolidated many subsites into two main sites (UMC Utrecht and WKZ), enabled easy content sharing and social integration, and provided editors a customizable, scalable platform ready for future extensions.
