Thackray Medical Museum - Customer Case Study

Thackray Medical Museum is one of the UK’s largest medical museums and a charitable organisation focused on educating and inspiring audiences from schoolchildren to scholars. The museum commissioned a site rebuild to boost visitors, events and conferences, online retail, corporate sponsorship, school bookings, membership and library appointments. Key challenges were presenting a large number of departments in an easy-to-navigate way, appealing to diverse stakeholders (public visitors, medical professionals, trustees) and providing a simple, staff-manageable ecommerce solution.

NetConstruct rebuilt the site on Kentico CMS using a mega-dropdown navigation, colour-coded department areas and discipline-specific widgets (Victorian styling for the museum, green for education, purple for conferencing and a separate “curiosity” shop design). New online tools — shop, ticket booking, library appointments, conference quotes and school resources — centralise activity in one CMS for easier content, ecommerce and marketing management. The relaunched site has created a strong online platform that makes services and fundraising more accessible, supporting increased visits, bookings, sponsorships and charitable income.
