A Kentico Case Study
South Walton Fire District (SWFD), the public safety authority for South Walton County, needed a modern, mobile-friendly website to replace an outdated PHP site and reorganize content so residents could quickly find beach safety, surf and weather information—especially the beach flag warning system. The site also had to integrate Google Maps for lifeguard towers and beach access points, push real-time updates to social channels, and allow other county entities to display the flag status without duplicating effort.
Bit-Wizards rebuilt SWFD’s site on Kentico hosted in Microsoft Azure, delivering a responsive redesign, reworked information architecture, SEO improvements, and integrations to reduce duplicate updates. A custom homepage carousel and embeddable JavaScript/HTML5 flag-widget surface real-time beach warnings (and push updates to Facebook/Twitter), while an embedded Google Map and simple weather plugin streamline location and weather updates. The new site improved usability, operational efficiency for the Beach Safety Director, and set the stage for future integrations like online permit payments and automated flag updates from SWFD’s DES.
