A Kentico Case Study
PortsToronto, the steward of Toronto’s waterfront that operates Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, the Port of Toronto and the Outer Harbor Marina, re-engaged Seventyeight Digital to redevelop its bilingual public website. The existing site on Kentico 5.5 was outdated and not mobile-friendly, while key challenges included creating an editable, interactive map of eight waterfront properties, reorganizing a content-heavy airport section, and providing reliable, high-traffic arrivals and departures information for mobile users.
Seventyeight upgraded the site on Kentico, building page types and API-driven tools to make the interactive map editable, splitting the Billy Bishop Airport section into Passenger and Business templates, and consuming XML feeds from Air Canada and Porter to power searchable arrivals/departures pages. Since launch about 10 months ago the responsive site has attracted roughly 1 million visitors and 3 million page views, with a near 50/50 split between desktop and mobile/tablet and improved engagement metrics for mobile users.
