Philadelphia Zoo - Customer Case Study

The Philadelphia Zoo, a 42‑acre Victorian garden home to more than 1,300 animals and over 1.2 million annual visitors, engaged Weblications to modernize its public website and create an intranet to better serve visitors, staff and volunteers. The challenge was to redesign the site for clearer navigation and richer content, enable real‑time updates from multiple departments (parking, attractions, events), and deliver a mobile experience and native iPhone/Android apps while making content easy for zoo staff to maintain.

Weblications implemented a Kentico‑based solution: a redesigned desktop site, mobile site and apps, a staff intranet (ZooNet), self‑running ZooTV kiosks, mobile update screens for real‑time data, and a jQuery trip planner with saved plans accessible via mobile. Launched in about five months, the project improved on‑the‑go visitor access and internal communications; mobile sessions grew from 15% (230,136) in 2011 to 42% (1,043,882) in 2014, and staff workflows and information sharing were streamlined.
