Orbiter Balloon is the personal site for record-setting balloonist Brian Jones (orbiterballoon.com). The original site had remained as static HTML since 1999, making updates slow and error-prone; Brian wanted a low-cost redesign that added interactive elements telling the circumnavigation story, an easy-to-manage gallery, linked documents on pages, and the ability to secure downloads behind a password.
Digital d2x implemented Kentico CMS, using its media library, custom web parts and document types to build an elegant gallery with automatic thumbnails/sizing, a JavaScript interactive home-banner, and password-protected downloads—all editable via the simple CMSDesk. The site is now quick to update with minimal downtime, offers an upgrade path as needs grow, and Brian — after brief Skype training — reports it is easy to use and recommends the solution.
