A Kentico Case Study
Technotects built the Skin Care Network microsite as a subsidiary of NursingCenter.com using Kentico CMS. The project needed to deliver a clinically focused site that editors could easily update while also integrating with NursingCenter’s existing SQL Server resources — including single-sign-on/membership, journal/article metadata and database-driven navigation — and fitting into a Visual Studio/ASP.Net developer workflow.
The team used Kentico’s template and web-part model for editor-controlled pages and implemented database-driven pages with user-control web parts (ASCX) that call an EF4-based class-library data layer (repository/DI pattern, LINQ queries). By wiring the ASCX controls into Kentico, copying connection strings into web.config, and centralizing data access in DLLs, they delivered dynamic journal lists, login/registration and navigation backed by the NursingCenter databases. The result was a fast-to-deploy, editor-friendly CMS that smoothly integrated mission‑critical external data and met the project’s stability and developer‑tooling requirements.
