Northumberland County Council (NCC), the local authority for the North East of England, needed to modernize its public-facing website to better serve a wide range of services—from planning and schooling to council tax and parking—while reducing staff time and meeting growing online demand. The council decided to move off an out-of-date Immediacy CMS, require a responsive design for the ~60% of users on mobile/tablet, and ensure seamless integration with existing third‑party systems such as SharePoint, Capita and Lagan amid a content base of thousands of interlinked pages.

Unified Solutions was selected to migrate NCC to the Kentico CMS, rebuild the site structure and visual design, and integrate third‑party systems. The relaunch added features like a predictive smart search covering 700+ services (with hashtag and alternative-keyword support) and prominent, real-time “top task” tiles, all on a responsive platform. The result is a more navigable, scalable website that has been well received by users and provides a robust foundation for future digital development.
