A Kentico Case Study
The New Hampshire Historical Society (founded 1823) is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving and sharing the state’s history from a collection of more than two million artifacts, documents, and photographs. Facing the need to vibrantly showcase 100,000+ items at launch, unite long‑standing but disconnected databases (PastPerfect and MINISIS), and present a responsive, interactive timeline, NHHS engaged SilverTech to modernize the site and streamline content management.
SilverTech built the site on Kentico EMS, creating a custom importer that maps three different database schemas, links images/PDFs to records, and uses Kentico user profiles so other societies can upload collections; AngularJS-powered custom search indexes (rebuildable via Kentico smart search) power the Catalog and Timeline, while Kentico handles memberships, e‑commerce, donations and Blackbaud syncing. After launch (Dec 2015–May 2016 vs. the prior six months) the site saw a 10.64% drop in bounce rate, a 750% improvement in donation conversions, a 388% increase in newsletter signups, and a 33% rise in organic search traffic.
