National Biodiversity Network - Customer Case Study

The NBN Trust is a UK charity that coordinates biodiversity data and communications across government bodies, conservation organisations and volunteers. It faced a fragmented web presence: three independently managed sites (the main site, the NBN Gateway species database and NBN Forums) with dated designs, separate logins, security issues and a cumbersome multi‑administrator publishing workflow that harmed user experience.

Distinction delivered a three‑month Kentico solution using locked ASPX templates, unified login and user‑specific navigation, document and workflow management, event booking, analytics and a custom PDF Builder. The relaunched site has a consistent identity, about 500 downloadable documents and access to ~58 million species records, received 88% “very good” or “excellent” feedback, now handles 400,000+ page views/month, grew unique visitors from ~18.8k to ~31.6k in year one, and enabled a move from print to regular e‑news communications.
