MyDentity Custom - Customer Case Study

KHS Musical Instruments (Mapex) needed an engaging, cross‑platform web app—MyDentity—that lets consumers build fully custom drum kits from a vast combination of drum types, sizes, finishes and hardware. The challenge included supporting over 500 million possible configurations with fast image delivery, an intuitive drag/rotate/layer UI, lightweight user authentication, social sharing of composite kit images, on‑site Axapta data sync, geo‑based dealer lookup and printable invoices—without relying on Flash/Silverlight so it would work on mobile devices.

Bit‑Wizards delivered the solution using Kentico CMS on Windows Azure (SQL Azure, Azure Storage and CDN) with an ASP.NET backend and jQuery/AJAX front end; kits are serialized as JSON, composite images are generated on the fly, SSIS syncs Axapta data, and PDFs and dealer searches are produced dynamically. The site launched March 1, 2012, won two “Best in Show” awards at NAMM, drew 23,000 unique visitors in month one, produced 4,000 saved kits and 1,400 shares in six weeks, and is on track to exceed initial sales goals.
