A Kentico Case Study
Michael Baker International, a global engineering, planning, and consulting firm with over 6,000 employees, faced a sprawling, hard-to-maintain WordPress site that needed better backend organization, mobile access, and improved UX. Key challenges included migrating a large content set and complex interactive features (a layered Regions map, event calendar, Masonry layout, and a scalable homepage slider), fixing jarring hover interactions, and improving readability across devices.
The team rebuilt the site on Kentico, recreating the front end with responsive HTML/CSS, adding and removing micro-interactions, and rewriting the interactive map in extensible C#—completing the migration in two months. The result is a streamlined, easier-to-manage site (marketing can add features with less developer help), improved readability after switching body copy to Lato, and nearly a 50% increase in mobile visitors since the September 2015 launch.
