Lonza Wood Protection, part of the global Lonza group and the UK’s largest supplier of timber treatments, needed to scale delivery of CPD training and certification beyond time‑consuming face‑to‑face sessions. The brief was to build a secure, editable website that would let users register and take narrated learning modules and multi‑answer tests online, generate personalized PDF certificates on successful completion, record pass/fail outcomes per user, and allow Lonza’s internal team to update content without additional coding. Key challenges were restricting access without pre‑entering users, making tests maintainable via a CMS, and virtualizing certification.

Using Kentico CMS, the team implemented a self‑registration and admin‑approval flow, module pages with narrated video, short multi‑choice tests, and on‑pass generation of time‑stamped PDF certificates. Kentico custom tables record and export candidate pass/fail data and the CMS UI lets Lonza create modules, upload videos and questions, and manage users. The result is a scalable, secure CPD portal that increases delivery capacity and business efficiency—allowing Lonza to offer more CPD without increasing internal resources while keeping all content and reporting under their control.
