Ipswich Cycling Weekend - Customer Case Study

Ipswich Cycling Weekend is an annual two-day cycling festival in Ipswich organised by Ipswich Borough Council and British Cycling and sponsored by digital agency Crafted. After a successful first year they needed a sophisticated, mobile-friendly website to promote the 2014 event, drive bookings for the newly named Crafted Classique and Sky Ride, centralise event information and capture attendee data — all on a tight timeline. Key challenges included limited imagery (especially of female cyclists), rolling content releases and the need to integrate seamless external registration links.

Crafted built the site on Kentico 8, creating editable landing pages for each event with external registration buttons, resident and travel information, a local hotels map, and removable content pods for easy updates. They sourced and prepared additional imagery for responsive breakpoints to meet the deadline. The site delivered strong results: a 161% year‑on‑year rise in online registrations for the Crafted Classique, total sportive entries doubled to 500 riders, 14,459 sessions (9,058 users) during the campaign period, and roughly 10,000 people enjoying the two‑day festival.
