hmv is a long-established British music, film and games retailer that moved thousands of products online as it made its first major push into e-commerce. With a catalog of about 82,000 pages and 44,500 SKUs and peak traffic reaching thousands of concurrent users, the challenge was to deliver fast, reliable performance and the ability to handle large traffic spikes without overspending on infrastructure.

Ridgeway migrated hmv’s store to Microsoft Azure and implemented scalable cloud hosting and commerce optimizations, allowing capacity to be scaled up and down for peak periods. The upgrade delivered strong commercial gains—reported improvements include a 78% increase in revenue and year‑on‑year lifts such as a 16% rise in conversion rate, 42% more new users, 69% more transactions and a 65% increase in products sold.
