A Kentico Case Study
E.D. Smith Foodservice, a value‑added food manufacturer of jams, sauces and dressings, needed to replace a custom Lotus Notes website with a modern, maintainable platform that would be easy and fast to deploy on a limited budget. Key requirements included a user‑friendly interface for the marketing team, hosting in the company’s Microsoft Azure tenant to access shared files, a daily scheduled import of product, nutritional and allergen data, and a standardized footer/alert system shared across corporate sites.
Heartland rebuilt the site in Kentico and hosted it on Microsoft Azure, using Kentico web parts and a scheduled task to automatically import and display product data while providing a dashboard for on‑the‑fly edits and import monitoring. Azure enabled shared files for the global footer/alerts, smooth deployment via deployment slots, and automated backups. The result is a responsive, low‑maintenance site that the customer can update with minimal technical skill, stays secure and backed up, and meets their content and data‑management needs.
