A Kentico Case Study
The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of British Columbia sought a full redesign of its public website, intranet and integrated applications to replace stale, hard-to-use web properties. Key goals were early stakeholder engagement to create a user-centric experience, a consistent look-and-feel across sites and apps, and a simple content management interface so any staff member could update the site. Major challenges included creating a clear, function-based information architecture for both licensed practical nurses and the general public, and integrating a registration renewal process with an existing legacy system.
Number 41 Media conducted an environmental scan, analytics review, stakeholder interviews and user surveys to inform a new IA with five top-level, function-based categories, replacing a single 29-item menu. Clickable wireframes guided interaction design, and a design system based on the new logo was extended to the registration and administrative applications. The public site was built in Kentico and the custom registration renewal app was integrated for a seamless experience; the result was a highly usable, consistent web ecosystem with an intuitive CMS that staff can maintain with minimal training.
