Case Study: Tesco Ireland achieves office space savings and instant access to key documents with Kefron Scanning & Capture Services

A Kefron Case Study

Preview of the Tesco Ireland Case Study

How a retail giant maximised office space with scan & capture

Tesco Ireland, Ireland’s leading food retailer, needed a cost-effective replacement for the document-scanning service previously handled by its Cardiff subsidiary. Unwilling to build an in-house scanning unit, Tesco Ireland appointed Kefron in early 2007 for Scanning & Capture Services to centralise and modernise its document capture and access.

Kefron placed a full-time scanning technician at Tesco’s Dun Laoghaire head office and deployed a high-throughput Bowe Bell + Howell duplex scanner (with Kefron Capture processes), scanning 35,000–40,000 documents per week plus periodic bulk scanning at its Park West facility. The solution used barcode head-sheets and web-based viewing to speed access, enabled secure shredding/recycling of originals, freed significant office space, eliminated long-term paper retention in many cases (seven years of payroll now kept as images), and has since been extended company-wide—delivered and supported by Kefron.
