Sainsbury’s boosts archive engagement with Keepthinking, reaching 16,746 users in 6 months

Sainsbury’s, a major British supermarket, held a significant historical archive across four outdated and disparate websites. They commissioned Keepthinking to unify this content into a single, publicly accessible digital resource to celebrate their 150th anniversary and make their history engaging for multiple audiences.

Keepthinking designed and developed a new, intuitive website powered by their Qi CMS. The solution featured an interactive timeline, a historical map, and a flexible search to encourage exploration and discovery, alongside personalization features allowing users to create albums and share stories. The new archive saw a dramatic increase in engagement, with unique users growing from 2,353 to 16,746 and page views jumping from 7,829 to 153,600 over equivalent periods. Keepthinking delivered a platform that received positive feedback from both the public and internal staff, successfully revitalizing access to Sainsbury’s history.
