West Virginia University Improves Password Management and Visibility With Keeper Security

West Virginia University’s IT department needed an easy-to-use, secure and collaborative password management solution to replace a legacy tool that suffered from poor adoption, weak admin controls, rising costs and a 2022 data breach. To address these challenges, WVU selected Keeper Security’s Keeper Password Manager (Enterprise, with Platinum Support) to modernize password handling across its 10,000+ employee organization.

Keeper Security implemented a seamless migration using Keeper Commander to import records, deployed Role-Based Access Controls, integrated SSO and MFA, and enabled secure sharing with Shared Folders, One-Time Share and KeeperFill. The result was rapid end-user adoption, improved visibility and auditing of password hygiene, stronger control over offboarding and compliance, and a reported strong return on investment—letting WVU confidently lock down accounts and enforce MFA across the institution.
