Alzheimer’s Association Bids Farewell to Excel for Managing Passwords

The Alzheimer’s Association, which supports about 3,000 employees across national and local chapters, faced a critical security challenge: passwords were being managed in an Excel spreadsheet and often shared via email as the IT team centralized support. Mariano Lopez, the Association’s systems administrator, evaluated password managers and chose the business version of Keeper Security Password Manager and Secure Digital Vault to replace the insecure spreadsheet approach.

Keeper Security was deployed initially to a half-dozen IT staff and proved easy to roll out and use; its team-sharing plug-in replaced insecure email-based password exchanges, the Secure Digital Vault generates and stores strong passwords, and an admin dashboard lets leaders monitor password strength without seeing actual passwords. The result: the Association eliminated its Excel password store, tightened password hygiene and audit compliance across its 3,000-employee footprint, and saw smooth user adoption with plans to expand Keeper Security to other departments.
