KDS Optimizes Veolia Business Travel Management

Veolia, the world leader in environmental services with about 250,000 employees and annual sales of €24.7 billion, faced a major travel-cost challenge: a highly decentralized organization (2,500 entities worldwide, 1,500 in France) and a French corporate travel budget of €30–35 million. Management launched the Odyssey project to standardize and reduce travel spending by moving procurement to an online self‑booking tool and set a target to manage 75% of travel online.

Veolia selected KDS (working with new TMC Carlson Wagonlit Travel) for its international, change-management experience and rapid ASP deployment. A phased rollout in France focused on consolidation, training, communication and a CWT helpdesk; technical integration with the corporate portal took little time. After two years adoption reached nearly 60% (target 75%), restored management-fee profitability, faster implementation (initial phase in three months), and plans to expand to the UK and other countries.
